Penjualan televisi dan peralatan rumah tangga keluaran Samsung memang menurun akibat krisis yang melanda Zona Euro, konsumen terbesar mereka. Namun, tidak demikian halnya dengan penjualan rangkaian smartphone terbaru mereka, Samsung Galaxy.

Menurut kantor berita Reuters, Jumat 6 Juli 2012, penjualan rangkaian Samsung Galaxy telah terjual 50 juta unit, atau 380 unit per menitnya. Dengan penjualan yang telah mencapai US$5,9 miliar selama satu kuartal, keuntungan yang perusahaan asal Korea Selatan ini meningkat lebih dari 4,4 miliar won dari tahun sebelumnya.

Berdasarkan survei 14 analis, keuntungan yang akan diraih Samsung pada kuartal ketiga diperkirakan mencapai 7,3 miliar won hingga 9,1 miliar won, atau meningkat 36 persen dari kuartal kedua.

Masa keemasan penjualan ponsel Samsung Galaxy, terutama untuk seri Samsung Galaxy III, diperkirakan akan semakin mengalami peningkatan sebelum Apple meluncurkan iPhone model terbarunya. Jika iPhone telah diluncurkan, penjualan semikonduktor justru akan mengalami peningkatan, mengingat Samsung adalah produsen tunggal chip memori, flash NAND, dan layar display untuk Apple.

"Laba yang meningkat di bagian semikonduktor juga akan berpengaruh pada permintaan DRAM dan NAND," kata Jeff Kang, analis dari Daishin Securities. Semikonduktor Samsung diperkirakan akan meraup untung hingga 1 miliar won pada kuartal ini.
